Karen Rolston, MA, is the Director of the Centre for Intercultural Communication at UBC Continuing Studies. She is an International Relations graduate of UBC and holds an MA in Intercultural Communication from Antioch University and the Intercultural Communication Institute in Portland, Oregon.

Since 1992, Ms Rolston has been an adult educator, developing domestic and international educational programs related to intercultural relations. Before joining UBC in 1999, Karen taught in immigrant settlement programs, community colleges and health care settings with students and professionals interested in working more effectively across cultures. Her passion for intercultural communication training continues at the Centre for Intercultural Communication where she oversees the certificate and customized programs offered through this unit.

Ms. Rolston's research and teaching interests include organizational effectiveness programs (building diverse teams, creating inclusive organizations) and facilitator development programs (teaching and learning across cultures and contexts, diversity and intercultural training and trainer development).
