About the Centre for Intercultural Communication

Established in 1982, the UBC Continuing Studies Centre for Intercultural Communication (CIC) designs and delivers programs to promote effective intercultural communication. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, CIC provides programs and services for individuals, educational institutions, professional associations, government agencies and corporations. Participants develop:

• a broad range of perspectives and understanding of diverse populations, both multicultural and international
• self-awareness of personal beliefs and attitudes that influence interactions with colleagues and clients
• specific skills and strategies for working and learning across cultures.

CIC envisions a society in which all people are fully able to live, work, grow and engage in equitable and inclusive communities that value diversity in all its forms. We aim to provide transformative educational experiences that challenge conventional attitudes and practices, and foster respectful intercultural leadership and engagement across differences.  We aim to embody our values and our work through:

Staff

Together the CIC staff has over six decades of overseas experience working in the areas of education, archaeology, international development, intercultural relations and finance in North and South America, South and East Asia, Europe and Africa.
