International Undergraduate Study Preparation Program (IUSPP)
Thank you for considering study at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Continuing Studies. The International Undergraduate Study Preparation Program (IUSPP) is a university preparation program for undergraduate level international students. IUSPP focuses on academic training, placement, mentoring and language training (if required).
IUSPP is not a degree program but does place students in a limited selection of regular undergraduate credit courses as a non-degree student of UBC. UBC credit courses completed as part of IUSPP may be eligible for recognition toward a degree program at UBC or other North American universities. For more information about admission to undergraduate programs at UBC, please visit http://you.ubc.ca.
Applicants should also note that the length of IUSPP will vary depending on each student's English language fluency when they start the program. Typically IUSPP will include one to three non-credit terms followed by a term that includes six credits of study. Each term is four months in length. We estimate that students entering IUSPP with an English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5 (or equivalent) would require approximately three terms (12 months) to complete the program. Students who progress faster than anticipated would be offered full refunds of fees paid for the non-credit English language terms they don't require. For more details, view the expected timeline to complete IUSPP (see section Dates and Fees).
