Customized Retirement Planning Workshops for Organizations

Since 1977, we have worked with labour, management and community resources throughout BC to provide customized two-day retirement planning workshops.

While other retirement planning programs concentrate on financial planning, our program recognizes the issues employees face upon retirement are much more complex. In addition to financial planning, our experienced instructors also examine health, lifestyle, housing and relationship issues.

Employers who provide In-House Retirement Planning Workshops demonstrate their interest in the future of their older work force, while employees looking for guidance through the pre-retirement period view this kind of training opportunity as a valuable benefit of employment.

Who Should Attend?

Our workshops are designed for individuals and couples who are within seven years of retirement and are ready to review their options and plan for their future. It provides couples with an excellent opportunity to share their ideas and expectations for retirement.

Workshop Topics

Planning for retirement encompasses giving thought to lifestyle expectations and choices. It also involves setting realistic goals and constructing a plan to achieve retirement dreams. Topics covered during the workshop include:

  • attitudes towards retirement
  • health and well-being
  • lifestyle planning and leisure activities
  • relationships in retirement
  • personal fulfillment
  • financial management
  • wills/estate planning.

Because our workshops are interactive and we encourage active participation and questions, many other topics may arise that are of interest to participants. Most topics are supplemented with a checklist activity that is either completed at the workshop or in the participant's own time.

Our Instructors
Our workshop leaders bring decades of professional experience in adult education and are experts in the field. They are committed to empowering others to positively and proactively manage their life changes. In our workshops, the program leaders will cover the major topics and provide focus and continuity throughout the two days. Adding breadth to the program, we invite guest speakers to address the issues of financial planning, pension plan(s) and legal affairs; these speakers are generally drawn from the local community.
