Volunteer Program

Volunteers support UBC Continuing Studies Life and Career Programs (LCP), offering free drop-in and telephone counselling and advising to the public at large.

Volunteers are recruited from the community and accepted on the basis of their life experience, empathetic character, relevant prior training and willingness to embrace the values and practices of the Life and Career Programs. Peer counselling training is provided and ongoing learning continues throughout the volunteer's service to LCP. A contract for a minimum number of service hours per month and commitment to ongoing skills training is required. Periodic performance appraisals provide supportive and constructive feedback. This program is committed to ensuring a volunteer experience that is both enriching and rewarding.
