The UBC Certificate in Project Management provides you with the knowledge and skills you need to excel as a project manager. There are three delivery options; the part-time program is designed for those with full-time job responsibilities.
The part-time format consists of a core program that you complete as a group over three months, after which you choose a specialization in Strategic Leadership, Business Analysis or Sustainability Management.
The UBC Certificate in Project Management part-time program is designed for experienced professionals, project team leads and team members who want to build or increase their knowledge and skills in project management and more effectively plan, collaborate, and/or execute projects. The program is relevant to those working in most industries including the high-tech, corporate, education, government and small business sectors.
This program is not intended as a preparation for the PMP exam. Please see our PMP Examination Preparation course for details on preparing for your certification.

The part-time UBC Certificate in Project Management is delivered in a classroom format at UBC Robson Square. It includes a Core Program (comprised of modules and a team project) and Specializations.
The core program curriculum is grouped into modules that mirror real-world projects, with emphasis on the importance of working within teams and applying concepts and ideas to real workplace situations. You can read more about the courses in each module by clicking on the module name below.
The first core program module becomes the base upon which each subsequent module builds. This progression ensures that participants emerge with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that are critical in today's workplace. As participants move through the various program modules they develop a greater understanding of the full breadth of project management. The application of specific competencies is effected in the team project. Augmented by a focused supplement of electives, the program leads to a specialization in strategic leadership, business analysis or sustainability management.

Team Assignment and Peer Evaluations
Projects are inherently team based activities. The ability to work with others in a cooperative and collaborative way is one of the keys to successful Project Management. To reflect this reality, the Core program includes a team project assignment. Spread over the duration of the program, the assignment allows students to work in teams while exercising the skills learned in class. To promote effective team work and to allow course participants to develop their team working skills, team members enter into a "team agreement" that specifies the terms of reference within which the team will function.
In support of that agreement a 360 degree feedback process is used throughout the program to provide a method for team members to provide feedback to each. The process is designed to provide constructive information that can help individuals understand how their efforts are perceived by their colleagues. The 360 degree feedback process is an integral part of the assessment system for the team based assignment and the marking schema takes into account team feedback and the contributions to the team made by individual team members.
Specializations
Upon completion of the Core Program, participants then need to complete a Specialization. The course requirements vary for each specialization. Participants must complete the program (core and specialization) within two years of the date they are admitted to the Certificate in Project Management Program.
