The UBC Continuing Studies Writing Centre offers a variety of composition courses and services to all members of the university community who would like to improve their writing skills. The Writers' Workshop supplements the Centre's popular online-site services with constructive and interactive online offerings tailored to the needs of our clients.
Our diverse body of clients includes undergraduate and graduate students, UBC faculty and staff, new Canadians, members of Vancouver's business, scientific, and industrial communities, and other evolving writers from across British Columbia.
The Writers' Workshop began as a research inquiry into whether or not online services were viable tools to help us meet the evolving needs of writers writing within a Canadian context. After a careful study and assessment of hundreds of existing online writing services and resources, we found that while there were indeed many wonderfully creative writing-related sites on the Internet, there was still room for composition resources that focused more specifically on the needs of Canadian writers.
